About me
I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). I am a member of the British Psychological Society also. I qualified in 2005 and have worked in varied roles within the NHS and in private practice.
I have extensive experience in working across the lifespan, with expectant parents, parents of infants and older children and young people, children and young people themselves and adults at all stages of their lives.
I have experience in several areas of speciality, including working with people of all ages who have a visible difference, particularly those born with a cleft lip and/or palate.
I support people around decision making for surgery.
I also support people working on their identity as a person with a visible difference or a health condition.
I provide support for parents, siblings and peers of children and young people with chronic health conditions:
- Diabetes
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Cancer
- Epilepsy
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Cardiac
- Functional/ medically unexplained symptoms – non epileptic seizures or neurological diagnoses
- Allergies
- Dental problems and treatments
- Other paediatric specialities
I can support children and young people experiencing anxiety, low mood or depression, grief, phobia, trauma responses, anger, worry, school stress , or need help with their emotional well being
I also help parents experiencing difficulty with their role as a parent and how to support their child’s behaviour
I also have considerable experience of working with d/Deaf children and young people, in inpatient mental health, community and hospital based settings. I have worked with children considering auditory implantation including Cochlear Implants, Auditory Brainstem Implants and BAHA device in addition to hearing aids.
I have lots of experience of working across multidisciplinary teams and consulting with medical, nursing and dental professionals
